Dr Kate Blake-Holmes (lecturer in social work), our awareness team and a local young carer have recently delivered a presentation to UEA student social workers on undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The session was to raise awareness of carers and challenges they face.
Eloise Riches-Birt, Caring Together carer awareness and voice co-ordinator, said: “The carer awareness session was delivered to undergraduate and postgraduate social worker students at UEA. The session focus was to raise awareness and identify young carers/young adult carers, the challenges they face in their caring role, the support available to them and key things to consider when working with a family who may have a young carer/young adult carer within it.”
Feedback from the students included, “Thanks Kate and Eloise and thank you James for being so open with us its been so interesting to learn about this topic and your personal experiences!”
