The Young Carer Team have launched their year long Intergenerational project, which encourages young carers to buddy with an elderly person. The Intergenerational Project promotes friendships though voluntary work within local care homes.
This exciting venture is up and running in three care homes in Huntingdon, St Ives and Ramsey. We are delighted to be working with Ringshill Care Home in Huntingdon, Red House Bupa Care Home in Ramsey, and Rheola Care Home in St Ives to enable a group of young carers to make a difference in their local communities.
The project focuses on companionship and a love of arts and crafts, bringing members of the community together, offering 1-hour monthly sessions for young carers to chat and craft with care home residents.
Tania Bingham, Policy and Development Officer, said: “Young carers have got crafty with bunting, enjoyed a game of bingo and are only at the start of their creative journeys together! This project was inspired by the #ThinkYoungCarer project which encourages members to volunteer within their communities and now they are doing just that!”
If you would like to be involved in the project, please contact Tania Bingham, on 07720 343401 or email [email protected].
