Providing breaks for carers so they can get time away from their caring role is essential. And this is definitely the case with young carers who otherwise may miss out on many of the experiences other children may take for granted.
Half term saw us holding a fantastic range of young carer activities, including a climbing wall experience at a local park, a brilliant trip to Pleasurewood Hills and fun visit to Monach Farm Riding Stables as a break for young carers and young adult carers.
One of the parents told us how much the made a difference, “Sarah really enjoyed her trip with young carers. She loved the farm and the horses in fact she hasn’t stopped talking about her favourite horse and would love lessons at the farm.
“Thank you for given her the opportunity to have such a fun and wonderful experience.”
Another told us, “Alex says the people at the farm were so friendly and let him ask lots of questions and they were really good at explaining things. The animals were well trained and calm. He learnt how to get on and off a pony safely and how to milk a goat. He learnt how different animals have different uses for farms. His favourite part of the day was holding the baby lamb and the baby goat (but the goat was a bit wriggly!) he would definitely like to go back if he had the chance. Thank you.”
