We are teaming up with local business, Maxine Lester Lettings and Property Management, with an appeal to help people looking after family members this Christmas. You can get involved and make a difference.
We are asking people to donate £25 towards hampers, and other seasonal food and goodies that will be given to young carers and their families this Christmas. This includes some specific Christmas treats for young carers supported by us at Caring Together.

Maxine Lester Lettings and Property Management have pledged to match any donations made to the campaign and are encouraging landlords they work with to give generously. Maxine Lester Lettings and Property Management staff will also be involved in delivering the hampers and other goodies to the carers and their families.
Miriam Martin, chief executive of Caring Together said, “We are very grateful for the support and generosity of Maxine Lester Lettings and Property Management and so many of their clients in this Christmas appeal. And we would encourage other people to donate to help carers this Christmas.
“While the coronavirus pandemic has affected us all, there have been very specific impacts on people looking after a family member or friend.
“It has brought additional hardships and challenges for them and their whole families.
“The demands of caring for a loved one have increased. Many who have had family members shielding for long periods. There has been additional stress and an increased sense of isolation. Many have had their work and financial situations significantly affected. The education of young carers has been affected.
“We know these carers and their families will really appreciate these gifts.”
The Christmas food hampers are being given to families where there is a young carer.
Maxine Lester, director, said she and staff had been particularly moved by the impact of the coronavirus on young carers and wanted to be part of helping them and their families.
She said, “We support Caring Together because we had a childhood and wanted to do something for children that spend their childhood looking after a family member.
“If we can provide the means to give these young carers an outlet to talk about their issues or to be able to have a break from their caring role then that is the right thing to do.”
You can donate any amount to the appeal, with a suggested donation of £25 providing a Christmas meal for a family. Any additional money raised will go towards our wider work in supporting carers.
