NHS England is giving individuals, carers, professionals and organisations the opportunity to have their say on the accessibility of health and social care information via three online surveys. The feedback received will be used to develop an Information Standard for Accessible Information – a guidebook of requirements and recommendations for all providers of NHS and social care services to follow.
More information about the project and access to the online surveys plus printable, Easy Read and alternative formats are available on the NHS England website at https://www.england.nhs.uk/accessibleinfo%3chttp:/www.england.nhs.uk/accessibleinfo>
The surveys close on Friday 21st February 2014.
NHS England are particularly keen to understand the views of people from the communities who are likely to be most affected by the project. That is people who are d/Deaf or have some hearing loss, blind or have some visual loss, people who are deafblind, and/or people with a learning disability, as well as from carers. The views of individuals and groups working with people from these communities, and from others who will be affected by or required to implement the standard, will also be particularly valuable.
Once implemented, the Information Standard will mean that disabled patients, services users and where appropriate carers, receive information in formats they can understand, and that they receive appropriate support to enable them to communicate, including advocacy.
