Helping schools identify and support carers is an important part of our work. And it has been superb to see how this has carried on during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
We are able to deliver awareness sessions by using Zoom, and Belinda from our awareness team recently delivered a training session to over 60 designated safeguarding leads from over 50 schools across Norfolk.
This session was held as part of the Heroes at Home campaign being run by Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership.
The session focused on how Covid-19 is affecting young carers, what support is available and how we can support schools to identify and support young carers through our Carer Friendly Tick Awards.
The session had some really positive feedback with us able to carry on contact with the designated safeguarding leads. One commented, “Thanks to you and Belinda for a very useful and informative webcast. It was brilliant and I look forward to more contact with Belinda to work on implementing and embedding young carer practice in school.”
Whether you are a school, business, health or community organisation we can help you with identifying and supporting carers.
