Being an unpaid carer can be tough – particularly during the festive period. Many of us are thrown into caring roles, which can cause an immense physical and emotional strain on us. It’s hard to adapt to a circumstance you never saw coming.
This Christmas your donation will be doubled!
We have an amazing opportunity to help unpaid carers, including children who are carers, this Christmas! Thanks to a special supporter, your donation will be doubled!
All donations up to £5,000 made will be doubled, at no extra cost to you. This means that a £20 donation will be made into £40. With support from people like you, we can double the impact your donation makes, and double the support for unpaid carers this Christmas. But time is short. Donations can only be doubled before Christmas. This amazing act of generosity ends on Christmas Eve 2024 at midnight.
You can make a difference in a child’s life.
Our support for children who are carers is under great demand. Children who are carers, sometimes as young as four, often support a sibling or parent with a physical disability or mental ill-health. We take these young carers on trips and activities, where they can have fun and feel like a child again. Your donations this Christmas could support our young carer trips and help a young carer make memories this Christmas.
We spoke to Mel and Ella, who take children who are carers on trips and special days out. They told us how these trips give children the chance to make friends and stop the sense of isolation that young carers so often experience.
“These trips are so important. And I think the biggest difference they make is helping to remove that isolation from a young carer’s life.”
Young carers can lead lonely and exhausting lives. Between looking after a loved one, and the pressures of school, they often miss out on opportunities to simply be a child. Our trips give young carers the chance to make memories they’d usually miss out on. Ella said:
“Young carers don’t often get to go out as much as other young people. For example, other children might go to the beach with their families. Young carers might not be able to because they’re looking after a loved one. The trips we provide allow them to make new memories and friends.”
By donating this Christmas, you could help us to ensure that no young carer misses out and give them the chance to make memories.
Please help us make the most of this unique opportunity
Your donation could go towards supporting a young carer this Christmas. It doesn’t have to be a lot – even the cost of a cup of coffee could go towards a trip for a young carer. And remember – whatever you donate will be doubled! Your support will also mean we can continue to run some of our other vital services, such as our helpline, support from our care professionals, and our emergency planning services.
- A £5 donation could help us support a carer over the phone.
- A £20 donation could pay for a young carer to go on a trip.
- A £50 donation could support an unpaid carer for two whole months.
