Summer Drop Ins…
We held 5 drop in sessions in Chatteris, Whittlesey, Huntingdon, Cambridge and St Neots. These were used by Young Adult Carers wanting to catch up and gain advice and support about a number of different issues.
Going to University…
I have been working with a number of Young Adult Carers as they prepare to start their journey at University. This support has included funding applications for kitchen items, making lists of what to take, identifying support at the university and referring to our Norfolk Young Adult Carer Team.
Starting college…
Linking in with the 14-16 yrs Transitions Project, Young Adult Carers have been taking part in sessions to support them starting college in September. This work has included one to one support, visits to college and a picnic be held on Thursday 1st September.
The summer has also seen Young Adult Carers take part in the Hunstanton Beach trip, a residential to Oxford and a CV workshop.
What next…?
The STRIVE groups continue to run successfully and the Young Adult Carers that attend always have such a great time.
From October, the March group will be meeting at the new venue of Costa Coffee. The times will stay the same: 6.30-8.30pm on the first Wednesday of the month.
The Huntingdon group will continue to meet at the Huntingdon Tesco Community Room on the third Friday of the month. 6.30-8.30pm.
At both sessions, there is an opportunity to chat one to one between 5.30 and 6.30pm.
