Members of Norfolk Young Carers Forum were recognised as part of this year’s Royal Norfolk Show.
The theme for this year’s Royal Norfolk Show was Young Achievers. And the Young Diamonds tribute was held to say thank you to all those young people who do so much for our communities and good causes and to acknowledge their example in a high-profile setting.
Forum members Nate, Hannah, Ruby and Taylor were among the young people who were recognised at the event.
The Young Diamonds tribute brought together young people aged 8-23 as part of a special event in the show’s Grand Ring where they were addressed by HM Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, The Lady Dannatt MBE. The Duke of Edinburgh was at the event, with the Duke of York Military School marching band also playing as part of the tribute.
Claire Rogers, carer awareness and voice coordinator, said, “The huge contribution young carers make to our communities are very often overlooked. So, it was brilliant to see them recognised in a high-profile way like this.
“The four who were chosen are each all an important part of Norfolk Young Carers Forum. They and the other forum members do a really valuable and important job of making the voices of carers heard in the county, and ensuring the role and needs of carers are better understood.
“We really want to thank everyone who made the Young Diamonds tribute happen.”
The event was organised in partnership between the Norfolk Lieutenancy and the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association.
