It can be valuable for people looking after a family member or friend to be identified as a carer.
With restrictions still in place in some settings due to coronavirus this can be relevant in a range of places and situations – for example it helps staff at hospital emergency departments recognise that someone is a carer if they have a carers card.
It is situations like this, and others, when Caring Together carer’s card is a good way for to help you be identified – and there are times this can also be useful at the shops, GP surgery, pharmacist and other places. (We would also recommend you make sure that the GP of the person you look after is aware you are their carer).
For carers who have a What If? Plan with us – a plan which can be activated if something happens which means they cannot carry out their normal caring duties – the card is now dual purpose.
