The Deputy Mayor of March, Cllr Mrs Jan French, will join family carers and the person they care for at a celebratory lunch at Trinity Hall, March, to mark national Carers Week (12-18 June).
The club is managed by Carers Trust Cambridgeshire and supports people from March and surrounding areas who live with dementia and have moderate care needs, as well as providing companionship to those who live alone. It is aimed at providing a day’s respite for carers, to give them a break from their caring responsibilities. The club meets every Monday and Tuesday from 10am-3pm.
Elvis singer Tony G will entertain in the morning and singing will also be held in the afternoon by staff.
Kerry Dring, Care Manager, said: “We very much look forward to welcoming Cllr French to our celebratory lunch with carers and their loved ones with care needs who come along to our day club.
“We know how important it is for family carers to have this chance to have a break and we provide a hot lunch and range of activities during the day for the person they care for.
“It costs only £6.50 and we have spaces for new members who wish to come along. A full assessment will be carried out to determine suitability, and funding may be available from the local authority. Transport may also be provided if needed.”
Carers Trust Cambridgeshire supports adult carers by providing Carer’s Assessments, Family Carers’ Prescriptions, the What If Plan? for emergency care planning, information, advice and guidance about respite care, groups and peer support. It can also provide families with paid Care Workers who are specially trained in dementia care.
